Success for branch clubs at ILS World Championships 2016

After successfully qualifying for the ILS world championships two of the branches clubs participated in the ILS World Championships in Eindhoven and Noordwijk in Holland in August 2016.

North Worcester ladies Tash Penn and Romaine Webb took silver in the masters rope throw and Tash also came 6th in the beach sprint and 4th in beach flags.

15 year olds Alex Jackson and Amy Weston from South Worcester Lifeguards, also headed off to Eindhoven to compete in the inter team Youth events for 15-19 year olds and Luisa Petta took part in events in the pool and on the beach.

Alex Jackson achieved personal best times in all 6 of his events against strong teams from Spain, Italy and Australia.

Taking part in his first 200m obstacle race he was 13th in his age group and in his first Super Lifesaver 200m event he achieved his best result of 54th overall.

Amy Weston achieved success in the pool with a 5th in her age group and an overall position of 20th in the 200m obstacles.

Following success in the pool Amy stayed to take part in the beach events in Noordwijk including Board races where she came joint 23rd giving her a great experience.

Abbi Jones from South Worcester Lifeguards also attended the event as an official.

All competitors are now looking forward to Rescue 2018 in Australia's surf!
